.s. administration officials, u.s. president barack obama, u.s. secretary of state hillary clinton that the use of chemical weapons in syria was a red line for which syria and the bashar al assad regime would face severe consequences if they ever did cross that red line and utilize chemical weapons against the people of syria. >> and we have no idea what those severe consequences would be, right? >> reporter: that's right, we don't. you know, people speculate that this would mean some type of military intervention, but we also know that a lot of world powers have not wanted to intervene militarily in syria. that they've wanted what's going on in syria to happen within syria. but the fear is if chemical weapons are utilized, and again, the syrian regime has said on many occasions, they are not going to use chemical weapons against their population, that that would mean there would be some type of military intervention, although it's unclear what scope that type of military intervention would take. >> mohammed jamjoom live in beirut, thanks very much. >>> a sobering cup of joe from the starbucks

,000. the same rate we had when bill clinton was president and our economy created nearly 23 million new jobs. >> that's from a new video by the obama administration designed to get the public on the president's side of this tax fight. the president took to twitter today to answer questions about the fiscal cliff. one person asked whether deductions for homeowners are at risk to which the president responded, breaks for middle class important for families and economy. if top rates don't go up, danger that middle class deductions get hit. signed "bo." yesterday house speaker john boehner said this on fox news. >> listen, nobody want to go over the cliff. that's why the day after the election i tried to speed this process up by making a concession to put revenues on the table. it's unfortunate that the white house has spent three weeks doing basically nothing. you know, the president's idea of a negotiation is, roll over and do what i ask. >> and on "meet the press" yesterday grover tried to change america's mind about who to blame if we do go off the cliff. >> tea party 2 is going to dwarf tea

benghazi, who told you to do this, why are you and not secretary clinton go out? now they're going to talk about the bombings in east africa in 1998. to me it's political suicide. it will cost too much political leverage that obama needs to spend elsewhere. >> sean: what are we to make of this? especially when i look at the words used prior to these embassy bombings, richmond, what do i see? the embassy was warned. washington, quote, was alerted to the embassy's extreme vulnerability and called for assistance. i mean, so very similar to benghazi, and assistance denied again. >> well, in both cases assistance was denied. i think in the august 7th, 1998 bombings, which killed 228 people, and injured more than 4,000 bombings, including two u.s. diplomats. the benghazi attack involved almost 100 people. some of them wearing after fan clothes, according to libyan intelligence, using machine guns, radio-controlled attacks. it was a sophisticated attack. there were no plaqu placards. no midges inothe intelligence bs showed al-qaeda had been building up training camps and other facilities in easte

, and there is a sense that he and barack obama just don't have much of a relationship. certainly nowhere near as warm and constructive as the one you ended up having with president clinton. >> first of all, we earned -- you have to ask president clinton this but i think it's a fair thing to say. we earned president clinton's respect in part by closing the government twice and being in a very rough and tumble fight. he came to believe we were serious. we were the first republican congress in 40 years but more importantly, we were the first re-elected republican house since 1928. that happened i think because we showed we actually were serious people willing to take the heat, willing to do what it took and willing to work our way to get real solutions. i would say that president clinton and i developed a relationship out of recognizing that we both had to be in the same room, we both had to bring two sides of the constitution. this isn't the president dictating. this is the president representing the executive branch and speaker boehner representing the legislative branch and they have to have mutual r
